Acrylic Versus

Aluminum Metal Prints

A Comparitive Look

When it comes to art and photography, work is only as powerful as the media it is displayed on. That shot that was breathtaking in the moment has to be documented to its fullest potential.

For the modern photographer, the two most common media to reproduce artwork are acrylic and aluminum metal photo prints.

Acrylic Prints

Acrylic prints are a clear substrate cut in various sizes and types. An image is printed directly on the back of the product and sealed to reflect through the clear front. Typically a UV printing process, ink is applied to the back of the plexiglass. To maintain a rigid frame that will not bend and break, most acrylic prints are created out of a thicker material type which can be heavy at larger sizes.

Aluminum Metal Prints

Aluminum metal prints are a sleek and thin profiled product.  The outer coating is created for a dye-sublimation process. This process requires printing the image on a paper with specialized ink that becomes a gaseous state and transfers into the pores of the metal coating under extreme pressure and heat. Since this process is a gas transfer, precision is key.
